Research & Presentation Project: BLOCK 6

Deep Dive Learning

Learning how to write a research paper is a crucial skill for college and later in many professions. Your paper does NOT have to be the fifteen or twenty pages you might be required to do in college. Three to five pages should be sufficient.

Your research will be mostly online, but if you are able to get a first-person interview with a relevant individual that would be excellent.

The single most important way to write a quality paper is very simple...

DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!

There are some physical criteria which must be followed.
  • Heading: Name, Date, Course, Appointment Teacher
  • Typed, size 12 font, (use Helvetica, Garamond or Arial), one-inch margins
  • Double spaced, one-half inch  (or three-spaces) indent
  • Proper grammar and spelling
  • Proper referencing and Sources Cited (including images)
  • Turned in as hard copy
You may choose any topic from the following list.
  • The Santa Susana Field Laboratory and Simi Water Safety
  • How the Chumash Indians Survived in Simi Valley
  • Why is Rocky Peak so Rocky?
The generic outline structure of your paper should be as follows.
  • Introduction and stated purpose
  • Brief historical summary of the topic
  • Present status of the topic
  • Relationship of the topic to current society and living
  • Conclusion and opinions fully supported

Please note: This paper is separate from the laboratory project you have been working on this semester.
